Richard French

Because of diet, exercise and new medications I still do what I love to do. Race cars! I live with Type 2 diabetes and work each day to manage my blood sugar. My A1c has remained under 6.5 allowing me to continue my passion to race my 2021 Porsche GT3 Cup car.

It wasn’t simple to make changes to my life but I knew that if I could create new habits that I would feel better, live longer and continue to do the things I love! I used my passion for racing and family as inspiration and created new habits. It doesn’t mean I don’t do everything I used to do. The difference is I know how to manage my diabetes within my lifestyle.

I am highlighting the work of the DF through my racing this year to encourage all individuals living with diabetes to focus on self-care, self-management, and to help someone else do the same by making a gift to help people who are uninsured or underinsured so they can access support and live healthier lives too.
