About the Diabetes Foundation
Diabetes Foundation’s mission is to improve the health and wellness of individuals living with or at-risk of diabetes through equitable, accessible, compassionate, high-quality care. We are dedicated to ensuring that those who have diabetes, or are at risk of diabetes, have access to support to live healthier lifestyles and avoid complications from diabetes.
Our History
The Diabetes Foundation (DF) was founded in 1990 to fill a critical need in diabetes care across the state of New Jersey. Our initial program, Medication Assistance, was designed to provide a short-term supply of diabetes medications to children and adults in need of emergency support. Our services help people overcome barriers to care including healthcare insurance, income, citizenship, technology and language.
Over our 30-year history, DF has expanded its services to become a “one-stop shop” where an individual with any type of diabetes can access multiple services for free. We help people access education, social support and financial assistance beyond medication to include free diabetes supplies, transportation, A1C screenings and diabetes camp.
Since its inception, the DF has helped more than 10,000 individuals and their families facing the challenges of diabetes to manage their blood sugar and live healthier lives.
