Financial Assistance
Diabetes is expensive and the DF is here to help you stay on track with your diabetes care. Our financial assistance programs are available to provide you with services when you need them most.
Free Insulin and Diabetes Medication
The Diabetes Foundation Medication Assistance Program assists New Jersey residents who are unable to pay for diabetes medications due to financial hardship. This is an emergency service that provides up to sixty days of free insulin, oral medication and/or non-insulin injectables to bridge the gap until a long-term solution can be found.
Free Diabetes Supplies
The Diabetes Foundation Supply Assistance Program assists uninsured and underinsured New Jersey residents who are unable to pay for diabetes supplies due to financial hardship. This is an emergency service that provides a two-month supply of glucose testing and insulin administration products, including glucometers, test strips, sensors, and pods.
Free A1c Screening
It is recommended that your A1c is tested every three months, to make sure your blood sugar is in line with your diabetes care plan. The Diabetes Foundation’s A1c Screening program provides free testing for children and adults experiencing need. Screenings take place at a BioReference Laboratory location near you.
Free Transportation
Whether you are going to see your endocrinologist, primary physician, or a lab for a blood test, the Diabetes Foundation’s Transportation Assistance Program can get you to your appointments when you cannot get there yourself. Approved individuals will be eligible to receive up to 2 round-trip rides.
Kids Camp Scholarships
The Diabetes Foundation Campership Program provides full or partial scholarships for NJ families to send their child to Camp Nejeda. A summer camp exclusively for kids living with type 1 diabetes, Camp Nejeda, provides an opportunity for campers to bond with other kids living with diabetes and prepares and educates them to learn self-management skills they can use for their lifetime.
